But with my luck I would cause the other person's tester to blow up somehow.Ī few pictures.
RCA VICTOR RADIO 1940 TV
Speaking of that, can a bad CRT hurt a tester? Was thinking if I could find someone to test the CRT for me it would be better than buying a tester for right now, given that this might be the only tv I work on for quite a while. This might be something it is better to buy locally. Not very much money for the tester, but a ton for shipping. I don't have the Hallicrafters radio I started this with done yet. Figure a few more days in the heat can't really do any more damage than has already been done. So it is under the front porch roof for now. Going to have to do some rearranging first for that. Everything is in the house except the cabinet. Didn't seem to weigh that much earlier today.
I guess having the seller help made a difference, but it hurt when I got the cabinet out of the car (suv) by myself. Junked/given away more cars than I care to think about.

So now I need to do some learning about how to work on these things. I wasn't intending to get into TVs yet, if at all. I will have to look and see if it has been recapped or has any other signs of having been worked on. Don't know what happened to make him stop and for the seller to get his hands on it. That person took it apart to refinish the cabinet. The seller says it was all working, according to the person he got it from. And since I live in the middle of a desert, I can't just leave stuff outside. I still have a bunch of car parts that I don't have a place for. But shiny is good.īad thing is now I have to make room inside the house for it. I'm not interested in making this showroom new. Figure that now is the time since it is all apart. My wife likes to do staining, so I will set her loose on this. Everything is there, what isn't attached is in baggies.
I was going to toss the cabinet directly in the trash, but honestly it is in a lot better shape than the pictures show. I will get some decent pictures of everything once I can get it out of the back of my car.Īnd already my plans for it are changing. I was thinking I just want the electronics, and $25 is not a bad deal. Well, I am sure most here will think I am an idiot, but I bought it today. Unless other wise noted, I am only interested in the electronics, not what it looks like. I already spent my allowance for this paycheck. I would go buy it today, but right now cash is a bit tight. It is dismantled for restoration project have all parts and was in working condition when dismantled wood cabinet needs restoration but a nothing missing sorry no pics and please don't ask for any just come and look $25 "Īnd here are the other two pictures he sent me. "1948 RCA television radio record player console combination. Anybody really interested in it I will give you his phone number. My main interest right now is the electronics side of things, not so much the looks. I'm just starting out in this hobby, so the radio at this price is interesting to me even without a cabinet. If there would even be any parts worth keeping besides the tubes. Honestly, if I didn't say it before, I am really only interested in the radio.
